Highlights

The more the snow feels like slush on the surface, the more likely it is that avalanches can be triggered. Be particularly aware of this above tree line. Be also aware that cornices are weakened by rising temperatures and rain. Stay away from slopes underneath cornices and do not step out onto them on ridges.

Avalanche Activity

The more the snow feels like slush on the surface, the more likely it is that avalanches can be triggered. Be particularly aware of this above tree line. Be also aware that cornices are weakened by rising temperatures and rain. Stay away from slopes underneath cornices and do not step out onto them on ridges.

Snowpack Structure

Tendency

The chance of wet loose activity is highest during periods with rain. When the rain stops and temperatures decrease, avalanche danger will decrease as well. However, be aware that cornices have been weakened by rain and mild temperatures. Avoid slopes underneath cornices and do not step out onto them on ridges.
