Wet snow

Moist and wet avalanches are the main danger.
Moist and wet avalanches are the main danger.
Especially on very steep sunny slopes small and, in isolated cases, medium-sized moist and wet avalanches are possible. In addition in particular at high altitude, mostly small slab avalanches are possible. These can be released by large loads.
The snowpack will be subject to considerable local variations. The strong wind has transported the new snow. The wind slabs have formed especially adjacent to ridgelines and in gullies and bowls and generally at high altitudes. The fresh wind slabs have bonded well with the old snowpack. Sunshine and high temperatures will give rise to gradual moistening of the snowpack in particular on sunny slopes at intermediate altitudes.
