Forecast Snow Stability: The new snow and windslab instabilities on North-East through South to West aspects will persist. Later as the wind turns, redistributed snow will begin to build windslab instabilities onto North-West to North-East aspects. These instabilities affecting wind sheltered coire rims, the tops of gullies, scarp slopes and ridge flanks. As the freezing level rises wet snow instabilities will affect the snowpack on all aspects. The avalanche hazard will be Moderate.

Snowpack Structure

Forecast Weather Influences: It will be a cold and dry overnight. The freezing level will rise through the morning to around 800 meters by the afternoon. Some moderate snow showers are expected later, these showers turning to sleet/rain below 800 metres. North-East winds will veer to the South-East, gradually gain in strength overnight to become strong to gale force Southerly, decreasing later to fresh West-South-West. Observed Weather Influences: It has been a generally day morning with only occasional light scattered showers. Winds have been strong Northerly with a low freezing level. ObservedSnowStability: New snow and windslab instabilities are present on North-East through South to West aspects above 700 metres. Some wind exposed ridge flanks are scoured. The avalanche hazard is Moderate.
