Regions: Glacier.

The shallow snowpack is becoming weaker, meaning a higher likelihood of a person sinking deeper in the snow and striking hard, underlying objects (rocks, logs, alders).

Travel with caution, bring a headlamp, and have a plan to deal with emergencies within your group.

Confidence

High

Avalanche Summary

A sz 2.5 glide slab release was recently observed from Tupper in the Lens path. Otherwise, no new significant avalanche observations have been reported.

Expect loose snow to sluff in steep terrain.

Snowpack Summary

The snowpack is thin, with an average depth of 30-40cm at 1300m, 60-100cm at treeline, and up to 120cm in the alpine in loaded areas. These values are below threshold for burying rocks, stumps, bridging crevasses, and covering creeks.

Weather Summary

The high pressure ridge continues to block all snowy systems from our region.
