As the day progresses as a consequence of warming during the day and solar radiation there will be a significant increase in the danger of moist and wet avalanches.
On very steep sunny slopes and at low and intermediate altitudes medium-sized and, in isolated cases, large moist and wet avalanches are possible as a consequence of warming during the day and solar radiation, especially at the base of rock walls. Below approximately 2600 m moist avalanches can penetrate even deep layers and reach very large size in isolated cases. Backcountry tours should be started and concluded early. Especially steep shady slopes high altitudes and the high Alpine regions: Individual weak layers exist in the snowpack. Mostly the dry avalanches are medium-sized and can mostly be released by large loads. Caution is to be exercised in particular at transitions from a shallow to a deep snowpack, as well as at the base of rock walls and behind abrupt changes in the terrain.
The weather conditions will facilitate a substantial strengthening of the near-surface layers during the night. Towards its surface, the snowpack is largely stable and its surface has a melt-freeze crust that is strong in many cases. In steep terrain there is a danger of falling on the hard snow surface. Sunshine and high temperatures will give rise from early morning to increasing moistening of the snowpack in particular on sunny slopes at low and intermediate altitudes. The surface of the snowpack will soften during the day. In places that are protected from the wind in all altitude zones a lot of snow is lying for the time of year. In the vicinity of peaks snow depths vary greatly, depending on the infuence of the wind. Especially steep shady slopes high altitudes and the high Alpine regions: In some places various wind slab layers are lying on old snow containing large grains.
