Regions

Little Yoho.

Lots of wind effect in the alpine and at treeline, but good skiing can be found in sheltered locations. It is a good time to be in the mountains. Enjoy!

Weather Forecast

We may see some light flurries on Tuesday but little in the way of accumulations. Winds will be light at all elevations. Alpine temperatures will be in the range of -10 to -18 with slightly warmer temperatures at treeline with highs of -8 to -10. Alpine winds will pick up to moderate from the south on Wed and we may see 5-10 cm starting Wed PM.

Snowpack Summary

Significant wind effect exists in all alpine areas with isolated wind slabs in steep lee areas of the high alpine. Soft surface snow remains just below ridge crests at treeline. The upper snowpack is faceting and this has diminished the sensitivity of wind slabs and rendered the four layers of surface hoar that exist in the upper snowpack dormant.

Avalanche Summary

No new avalanches observed or reported today. Some dry loose surface sluffing noted in very steep (over 45 degree) terrain in Yoho on Monday.

Confidence

The weather pattern is stable
