Highlights

The avalanche danger increases with increased solar warming. Where the new snow becomes moist for the first time or the snow is very wet, wet avalanches may release naturally. Keep your distance from steep, sun-exposed terrain and cliffs. Wind slabs that formed over the weekend has had time to stabilize, and it will likely take a lot to trigger avalanches in theese slabs. Be aware that snow bridges over streams are opening up, and keep a good distance from cornices.

Tendency

The avalanche danger increases with solar warming as the day progresses. In very steep terrain, and where the snow becomes particularly wet, small wet avalanches can easily be triggered. Good trip planning and timing are essential - avoid steep, sun-exposed slopes in the middle of the day. In north-facing terrain at higher elevations, there may still be dry wind slabs, but it will probably take quite a bit to trigger avalanches in them. Also be aware that snow bridges over streams are weakening and may collapse. Keep a good distance from cornices, as these can become destabilized due to solar warming.
