The avalanche danger is rated CONSIDERABLE today.
Human triggered avalanches are likely on slopes steeper than 30 degrees especially that face northwest through southeast.
Your only 100% safe bet is to keep your slope angles lower than 30 degrees.
The weak snow at the base of the snowpack remains but triggering an avalanche will get less likely as time goes on. It's going to get a little tricky soon. Sooner or later people will start to climb and ski some steeper slopes. Some slopes will stay in place. Some won't. The trick is knowing which ones will avalanche. There's no way to predict this safely.
Current Conditions: We have a temperature inversion in place this morning with warmer temperatures on the peaks compared to down in the canyons. Temperatures on the peaks are around 20˚F, down in the drainage bottoms they are 5˚ to 10˚F. Wind is very light from the northwest. Riding conditions remain good.
Mountain Weather: We have a number of sunny days with gradually increasing temperatures. Highs today will be in the upper 20s along the higher ridges. The wind should remain light and shift more east. A storm system will move in from the southwest on Thursday. Details have been a bit haphazard in the weather models but I'm thinking it won't be good for more than a few inches of snow as things look this morning.
