Chic-Choc Mountains.
The rain during Saturday night and the cooling during the day on Sunday will form a new widespread melt-freeze crust.
Early season conditions remain marginal and off-trail travel is still difficult and perilous.

The new snow (5-10 cm) above the December 1 crust will become increasingly wet with the forecasted rain (15-20 mm) overnight Saturday. The drop in temperatures with the gradual clearing on Sunday will form a new widespread crust on the surface.
At the start of the season, the height of the snowpack varies from 30 to 50 cm in general and up to 70 to 80 cm in the areas of maximum accumulation. The conditions remain marginal, with barely enough snow to cover the obstacles and a crust that makes travel difficult and perilous.
Forecast for the Chic-Chocs ridges and summits
The development of a weak ridge of high pressure will allow a gradual clearing during the day on Sunday.
This evening and tonight: Rain, 15-20 mm, south-westerly winds 60 to 80 km/h, temperature rising to +5C, freezing level at 1800 m.
Sunday: A few flurries ending late in the afternoon then mainly cloudy, 1-2 cm, westerly winds 40 to 60 km/h, temperature dropping to -10 C, freezing level back to valley bottom.
Monday: A mix of sun and clouds, south-westerly winds 50 to 70 km/h, high of -7 C, freezing level at valley bottom.
Tuesday: Periods of snow, 3-5 cm, south-westerly winds 60 to 80 km/h, high of zero, freezing level rising to 750 m.
