Highlights
The majority of the terrain on the Manti Skyline has a LOW avalanche danger. Continue to identify wind drifts and wind slabs and avoid them if they are on very steep upper elevation slopes. It is unlikely that they will crack out at this point in time but if you were to find trouble out there today, this is where it would be.
Snow and Weather
General Conditions: No significant change in conditions. The snow surface continues to turn into sugar through the "Near Surface Faceting" process. This is bad news for us in the long run as this will probably be a weak layer of concern once it is buried. (See An Introduction to Snow Metemorphism for more info) Temperatures are fairly warm this morning with many stations in the upper 20s. Wind is light from the northwest.
Mountain Weather: Today will be the warmest day of the week with sun and temperatures nearing almost 40°F. Wind continues from the north in the light to moderate speed category. High pressure is expected to persist for the foreseeable future. Weather models continue to hint at a minor disturbance around Thursday/Friday but it's looking like it'll mainly just bring clouds and some cooler temperatures. There is nothing advertised after that, and as of now, it looks like we'll close out January without any more snow.
