Wet snow
- Above 2,400 m
Moist and wet avalanches are the main danger.
Moist and wet avalanches are the main danger.
The conditions are spring-like. The conditions are to some extent favourable in the morning for snow sport activities. In the event of a clear night this applies in particular. Afternoon: In some localities light rain to 2800 m. Natural avalanches are possible in particular at high altitudes and in high Alpine regions. The avalanche prone locations are to be found on steep slopes. Medium-sized and, in isolated cases, large avalanches are possible in starting zones where no previous releases have taken place. The Avalanche Warning Service currently has only a small amount of information that has been collected in the high Alpine regions, so that the avalanche danger should be investigated especially thoroughly in the relevant locality.
The surface of the snowpack will freeze to form a strong crust, in the event of a clear night in particular. The rain will give rise in the afternoon to moistening of the snowpack. Moist and wet avalanches can in isolated cases be triggered in the old snowpack and reach quite a large size. Already many medium-sized and large avalanches have been released in the last few days.
