Avalanche Summary

If the sun pops out, look for wet avalanches to start shedding from steep, rocky slopes. This process can happen quickly this time of year, so keep this in mind, especially if you plan on traveling in steep, consequential terrain. Even a small slide that sweeps you off a cliff or into a stand of trees can be perilous.

Though less likely, new wind slabs may develop and be problematic on steep, leeward slopes below ridgelines throughout the day. Consider avoiding terrain features with more than a foot of dense drifted snow.
