Avalanche Summary

Look for and avoid rounded pillows of snow at high elevations that might take you for a nasty ride. These pockets may crack and collapse as you move onto them. The avalanche you trigger could step down to weak layers deeper in the snowpack, especially on slopes with shallow snow cover. If you see cracking, stick to low-angle slopes, and to reduce your chance of deeper slides, look for planar slopes without trigger points.
