Soft slabs to two feet in depth lie in steep wind loaded avalanche terrain at the mid and high elevations. These slabs were very sensitive yesterday and in steep terrain pockets of slab remain susceptible to human triggering today. Avalanches at low elevations are unlikely today.

Light snow showers are expected to continue into Sunday depositing three to six inches of new snow by Sunday evening. Overnight lows in the mountains will be near 20 before rising into the mid to upper 20s during the day. Southwesterly ridgetop winds will range from 10 to 15 miles per hour.The general avalanche hazard is expected to be MODERATE above an elevation of 8,000 feet on Sunday. There, backcountry travelers could trigger pockets of soft slab one to two feet in depth in steep, wind loaded avalanche terrain. The potential persists, particularly in the Southwest Trails and Togwotee Pass areas, for larger loads, such as snowmobiles, to trigger hard slabs lying on a strong early season crust up to four feet deep.
