The General Avalanche Hazard at mid and upper elevations is CONSIDERABLE. Heavy snowfall rates and southwest winds forecasted through the next 24 hours will raise the hazard through the day. Temperatures (currently 10 degrees warmer than this time yesterday) will rise into the upper twenties and cause the development of an "upside down" situation where heavier new snow is poorly supported by the lighter density snow beneath. New slabs will develop on leeward slopes and increase in size and sensitivity through the day. At low elevations the avalanche hazard is LOW but also will increase through the day. Stay clear of road cuts and steep drainages.Avalanche Control on Teton Pass for 9am this morning has been cancelled.

Significant snowfall and Southwest winds 20 ot 30 mph are expected overnight, with 6-9 aditional inches of accumulation expected. Some snow with light accumulations, lighter Westerly winds, and temperatures in the upper teens are expected Tuesday. AVALANCHE HAZARD FOR THE TETON, TOGWOTEE PASS / CONTINENTAL DIVIDE AND GREYS RIVER / SOUTHWEST TRAILS AREAS:Monday nights' continued moisture will add to the depth of the present sensitive surface slabs. Tuesday's avalanche danger will be at least CONSIDERABLE at the upper and mid elevations where these slabs will be easily skier triggered on steep terrain and may climb to HIGH particularly at the upper elevations depending on how much moisture and wind is recieved overnight.Backcountry users are advised to consult area specific forecasts issued every morning as new information may become available and unexpected weather can change conditions.
