The sometimes strong wind will transport the new snow. In some places deep wind slabs will form. They represent the main danger. Avalanches can be released in near-surface layers, even by a single winter sport participant. Caution is to be exercised adjacent to ridgelines and in gullies and bowls, and on steep slopes. The avalanche prone locations are barely recognisable because of the poor visibility. In addition individual natural avalanches are to be expected. On very steep slopes dry loose snow avalanches are possible, even medium-sized ones. In addition in the regions exposed to heavier precipitation, some small to medium-sized dry slab avalanches are possible. They can in isolated cases be released in the old snowpack and reach quite a large size.
In some localities up to 20 cm of snow fell yesterday above approximately 2200 m. 15 to 25 cm of snow, and even more in some localities, will fall until Thursday above approximately 2300 m. The sometimes strong wind has transported some snow. At high altitudes and in high Alpine regions snow depths vary greatly, depending on the infuence of the wind. The new snow of Wednesday will be deposited on soft layers in all aspects above approximately 2300 m. The weather will be cold. Individual weak layers exist in the snowpack in shady places that are protected from the wind, especially above approximately 2300 m.
The avalanche danger will persist.
