LO for 4/2. Stable refrozen snowpack, some minor deposits on NE to SE aspects above 900m. Tops of gullies most affected. Low hazard

Forecast Snow Stability: The existing stable spring snowpack will freeze and further consolidate during the afternoon. Through the afternoon areas of fresh of windslab will be deposited on wind-sheltered locations on North-East to South-East aspects above 900 metres. However, these areas are expected to be shallow and localised with the tops of slopes and gullies being most affected. The avalanche hazard will be Low

Forecast Weather Influences: It will remain dry and mild overnight and through the morning. From around midday the freezing level will drop initially rapidly, but then more slowly to around 600 metres by the end of the afternoon. Strong South-Westerly winds will back to become Westerly. Observed Weather Influences: After a cool night the freezing level rose above the summits during the morning, and stayed there through the rest of the day. There was some light rain from time to time. ObservedSnowStability: First thing this morning the snowpack was hard and icy. It then softened through the day in the milder conditions. Stability remained good in all locations throughout. Snow cover is still reasonable at higher levels with the greatest deposits existing on North to East aspects above 800 metres. The avalanche hazard is Low.
