Avalanche Activity

Fresh wind slabs require caution.

The wind slabs of the last few days can be released by a single winter sport participant. The avalanche prone locations are to be found in particular on very steep west, north and east facing slopes above approximately 2200 m. Caution is to be exercised in particular adjacent to ridgelines. At elevated altitudes the likelihood of avalanches being released is greater. On extremely steep slopes dry and moist snow slides are possible, in the event of prolonged bright spells especially.

Snowpack Structure

5 to 10 cm of snow will fall on Sunday. As a consequence of the occasionally strong northeasterly wind, fresh snow drift accumulations will form. These are lying on soft layers in particular on west to north to east facing aspects at elevated altitudes. Outgoing longwave radiation during the night will be reduced in some case.

Tendency

The snowpack remains prone to triggering at elevated altitudes.
