Avalanche Activity

In particular adjacent to ridgelines on southeast, south and southwest facing slopes easily released wind slabs formed.

Wind slabs can to an increasing extent be released, even by a single winter sport participant. Some mostly small natural avalanches are possible.

Snowpack Structure

In addition further wind slabs formed adjacent to ridgelines in all aspects and generally in the high Alpine regions. In some cases the various wind slabs have bonded poorly with each other and the old snowpack. They can be released easily especially at their margins. Reports filed by observers and stability tests confirm that the stability of the snowpack varies greatly within a small area on wind-loaded slopes.
