Forecast Snow Stability: The snowpack will continue to freeze and consolidate in the colder conditions. The greatest deposits remain on North to East aspects above 800 metres. Stability will generally good throughout. The avalanche hazard will be Low.
Snowpack Structure
Forecast Weather Influences: It will be dry overnight and through the day. The freezing level will be around 700 metres. Moderate wind from the North will ease through the period. Observed Weather Influences: After a couple of light early morning showers which fell as snow above 1000 metres it was a generally dry day. The freezing level dropped in the morning to around 900 metres where it remained throughout the day. Winds were from the South-West. ObservedSnowStability: Above 900 metres the surface of the snowpack became progressively harder and icier during the day. Below 900 metres it continues to slowly thaw and consolidate. There was only a trace amount of fresh snow. Stability was generally good throughout. The avalanche hazard is Low.
