Avalanche Activity

The new snow and wind slabs of the weekend represent the main danger. As a consequence of solar radiation avalanches are possible, but they will be mostly small.

The fresh snow as well as the wind slabs formed during the snowfall can be released, especially by large additional loads, in all aspects above approximately 2000 m. In particular on steep shady slopes avalanches can be triggered in the weakly bonded old snow.

Snowpack Structure

Individual weak layers exist in the bottom section of the snowpack in particular on shady slopes. The new snow is lying on the unfavourable surface of an old snowpack in particular on steep shady slopes above approximately 1800 m.
