The avalanche danger is generally LOW and greatest threat right now is slamming into a tree stump or deadfall hidden under the thin facade of an early season snowpack.

Seasonal closures are in place for the Mirror Lake Highway and currently, there's no winter maintenance or plowing.

Filled in now and tough to make out in the image above, but Ted noted a natural slide on the steep, heavily wind loaded slope of Murdock Bowl near Bald Mountain Pass, that ran earlier this week as a result of Monday's big winds.

Things are quiet now, but remember- even a small avalanche this time of year will instantly end your season if you slam into a rock, or stump, or get raked through deadfall. But that doesn't mean you can't ride, you just need to tone it down a few notches. As a matter of fact, you can still have a blast on lower angle terrain.

Nowcast-

Skies are clear and southerly winds blow 5-15 mph along the high ridges. A fairly significant temperature inversion developed overnight with areas like Trial Lake reporting temperatures in the mid teens, whilst higher terrain registers in the upper 20's. No new snow to report.

Forecast-

A weak disturbance passing through the region today brings afternoon clouds along with increasing southwest winds, blowing into the 40's by days end.

Futurecast-

A fast moving storm system delivers a round of low density snowfall Monday afternoon through Monday evening, with snow tapering off late Monday night. We might be able to squeak 3"-6" out of this storm. Another similar system is on tap for Thanksgiving.
