Tetons

The snowpack in the Tetons is mostly stable. Avalanches are not expected today with the exception of isolated pockets of small and shallow wind slabs along high ridges or peaks. Normal travel caution including being aware of others in the backcountry is advised.

A ridge of high pressure remains in place over the region, and another beautiful winter day with clear skies is on tap for tomorrow. Strong temperature inversions will form overnight with valleys again dropping into the negative teens and mountains into the teens. Valley temperatures should warm into the twenties and mountains into the low thirties. Westerly ridgetop winds will be in the teens gusting into the thirties.The avalanche hazard in all three forecast areas will continue to be Low, and avalanche activity is unlikely. Backcountry travelers should be mindful of the potential for small surface slides at the upper elevations in very steep terrain. Also strong solar radiation could cause snow surfaces to start to destabilize on sheltered slopes receiving direct sun for an extended period of time.
