Forecast Snow Stability: Unstable windslab mainly on North through East to South-East aspects above 750 meters. Areas of most concern will be wind sheltered areas such as coire rims, gully exits and below ridge crests. New fragile cornices above these locations. Other aspects will be affected by cross-loading. Wind exposed locations will be stable. The avalanche hazard will be Considerable.
Forecast Weather Influences: Gale force winds will be mainly South-Westerly overnight veering West-South-West during the day. The freezing level will rise from 500 meters to around 900 meters before falling during the daylight hours to 400 meters. Snowfall is expected throughout the period with the heaviest being during the morning.
Observed Weather Influences: Strong to Gale force Westerly winds with wintry showers. The freezing level was above the summits during the night and then dropped gradually to around 800 meters.
ObservedSnowStability: Snow Stability was mainly good. Unstable areas of windslab exist in wind sheltered areas above 850 meters on North through East to South-East aspects. The avalanche hazard is Moderate
