Forecast Snow Stability: Windslab will develop overnight and through the afternoon in wind sheltered locations above 900 metres. Most affected will be North-West to North-East aspects. Exposed windward aspects will be scoured and stable. Below 900 metres the snowpack will be moist and stability will be better. The avalanche hazard will be Considerable
Forecast Weather Influences: There will be precipitation overnight and then again during the afternoon. This will fall as snow above about 800 metres. The freezing level will around 900 metres overnight, creeping up to 1000 metres during the day. Gales force winds will be from the South. Observed Weather Influences: A dry and sunny day with gale force South-South-Easterly winds. The freezing level was around 600 metres. ObservedSnowStability: There was some drifting of the snowpack through the day. Areas of unstable windslab are present in locations sheltered from the strong winds on mainly North-West to North-East aspects above 900 metres. These areas don\'t tend to be particularly extensive. The snowpack on other aspects, and at lower levels tends to be firm, icy and stable. The avalanche hazard is Moderate.
