Forecast Snow Stability: The snowpack will become saturated later as precipitation arrives, but it will continue to be well bonded and stable throughout. Greatest amounts are located on steep coire back walls, scarp slopes and ridge flanks of a North-West through North to East aspects above 950 metres. Larger patches will linger in plateau areas while isolated patches at lower elevations will continue to become increasingly depleted in the thaw. The avalanche hazard will be Low.
Snowpack Structure
Forecast Weather Influences: A mostly dry day is expected, with precipitation arriving late in the forecast period. This will fall as rain at all elevations. The freezing level will be around 1000 metres overnight before quickly rising above the summits by midday. Winds will be strong Westerly before backing to the South-West from midday, gradually increasing to gale force later. Observed Weather Influences: A dry day with mostly moderate South-Westerly winds. The freezing level was around 1000 metres. ObservedSnowStability: The snowpack is very patchy and remains firm, stable and well bonded at all elevations. Greatest amounts are on North-West through North to East aspects above 950 metres, such as coire back walls and ridge flanks. More extensive patches remain on the high plateaus, mostly of an East and South-East aspect. Outwith these areas bare ground is abundant, with isolated patches and ribbons confined to hollows, depressions and stream beds. The avalanche hazard is Low.
