Regions

Vancouver Island, East Island, North Island, South Island, West Island.

A thick surface crust contributes to the low avalanche danger.

While we wait for the snow, consider this a good time to dust off the cobwebs and practice using your avalanche rescue gear.

Confidence

High

Avalanche Summary

The likelihood of natural avalanche activity has greatly decreased as temperatures cool.

If you're heading out in the backcountry, please consider sharing any observations on the Mountain Information Network

Snowpack Summary

A widespread surface crust has formed on all aspects and elevations. Any previous layers of concern deeper in the snowpack should now be bridged by the crust.
