Continually assess the snowpack depth as you move through terrain, especially on wind effected slopes. If the snow is deep enough to make for good riding than it is deep enough to avalanche.
No new avalanches have been reported in the past few days. Observations are limited this time of year, please consider filling out a MIN report.
Expect early season conditions with a shallower than average snowpack, the average depth at treeline is between 30 and 80 cm. Below treeline snowpack depths taper off quickly.
Surface conditions are variable. A sun crust can be found on some steep south and west facing slopes and wind effect on exposed terrain at treeline and above.
Another crust with facets or depth hoar exists at or near the ground.
