Regions

Kananaskis.

Good skiing right now at treeline areas-if you can find a place that isn't tracked out. Put some time aside to dig and look for the surface hoar layers and the deep, basal layers, its worth checking in on them.

Weather Forecast

Light snow will continue for the next few days. By Saturday afternoon we are expecting 4cm!! Winds will be light from the southwest. Temperatures will hover around -10°.

Avalanche Summary

Nothing new today.

Snowpack Summary

Storm snow is settling nicely. The surface hoar is proving hard to find and sporadic. We did see a hint of it today, but by no means widespread or reactive. The midpack is well settled until about 40cm off the ground. This is the deep persistent layer interface. Snow depth at treeline is almost 2 meters.

Terrain and Travel

  • Be aware of the possibility for full depth avalanches due to deeply buried weak layers.
