LO for 28/01. Snowpack remaining firm, icy and stable. Extensive snowfields above 900m on N to E aspects. Low Hazard.

Forecast Snow Stability: The existing snowpack will be firm, icy and stable. Extensive snowfields will remain on North to East aspects above 900 metres. Any overnight summit snow will be just a slight dusting and insignificant. The avalanche hazard will be Low.

Forecast Weather Influences: There will be a little light rain and summit snow overnight. During the day it will be cloudy, and mainly dry with moderate winds generally from the South-West. After very briefly rising above the summits overnight, the freezing level will fall to around 700 metres and remain there throughout the day. Observed Weather Influences: It was a cloudy day with some very light drizzle. Winds were South-Westerly and strong on the summits. The freezing level was around 850 metres with some lower ground frozen from overnight clear skies.

ObservedSnowStability: The existing snowpack remains frozen and stable on all aspects and at all levels. There remains good snow cover above 900 metres on North to East aspects. There was a light cosmetic dusting of snow above this altitude. The avalanche hazard is Low.
