Forecast Snow Stability: Overnight or early morning a period of higher instability will occur on areas where accumulations of deeper windslab exist as rain and milder conditions affect the area. Sheltered summit gullies and slopes with a North-East to South-Easterly aspect above 800 metres will be most affected. Cornices will be prone to collapse. Stability is expected to improve as the day progresses. The avalanche hazard will be Considerable.

Forecast Weather Influences: There will be a return to milder conditions overnight and through Thursday with persistent rain heavy at times affecting all levels. The freezing level is expected to remain above the summits. Winds will be West-South-West strong to gale force throughout the period. Observed Weather Influences: Strong Westerly winds and frequent snow showers overnight affected slopes above 500 metres, less windy and drier conditions are now affecting the area. The freezing level is around 900 metres. ObservedSnowStability: The strong gales of late have scoured windward and Westerlyfacing slopes rendering them firm and icy, in these areas stability is generally good. Deep accumulations of unstable windslab exist in sheltered gullies and on North-East to South-Easterly aspects above 950 metres, weak cornices have formed above some of these areas. The avalanche hazard is Moderate.
