Avalanche Activity

Fresh wind slabs are to be avoided.

The fresh wind slabs can be released by a single winter sport participant in isolated cases. The avalanche prone locations are to be found in particular on very steep shady slopes above approximately 1600 m, especially at transitions into gullies and bowls. In very isolated cases avalanches are medium-sized. More frequent loose snow avalanches are possible as the day progresses.

Snowpack Structure

The snowpack will be quite well bonded. In isolated cases wind slabs are lying on soft layers, in particular on steep shady slopes. At low altitude only a little snow is now lying.

Tendency

Hardly any decrease in danger. As a consequence of warming during the day and the solar radiation, the likelihood of slab avalanches being released will increase appreciably. More frequent loose snow avalanches are possible as the day progresses.
