Blues
Avalanche danger
Highlights
Generally, stable snow conditions exist today for the Blue mountains. Below freezing temperatures, last night and today will create a firm surface. Use caution when on steep slopes as not to lose your edge on your skis, snowboard or snowmobile.
Avalanche Discussion
Warmer temperatures and rain earlier this week and yesterday, coupled with an overnight freeze have created a firm crust. Temperatures dropped overnight in the Blues to the low 20s and look to remain below freezing throughout the day. With cold temperatures overnight and a lack of warming today, coupled with freezing levels below 2,500' today, the surface snow won't soften much. The Blues did receive between 1-2 inches of snow overnight which will help improve the surface in some areas, but there is a firm crust right underneath. Low danger doesn't mean no danger. Use caution when traveling on steep firm slopes with consequences.
