While the avalanche danger remains at low, a trace to 2 inches of new snow was measured across the forecast area yesterday. Shallow, soft deposits may exist near and above treeline. Look out for fresh, small drifts on top of old, variable surfaces when skiing and riding today.

Yesterday was the first measurable snowfall in nearly a month. Across the region, we measured a trace to 2 inches of new snow, along with light southwest winds. 

While the avalanche danger remains at low, you may be able to find thin deposits of soft, fresh snow near and above treeline. In many places, this snow landed on firm or frozen surfaces. On steep slopes, a skier or rider could get some snow moving downhill. Any resulting sluffs will be small and isolated, but worth considering if you choose to commit to steep and exposed terrain.

Small amounts of new snow have also likely concealed old surfaces in places. Expect dust on crust conditions and plan accordingly.

With more snow in the forecast for early next week, continue to monitor surfaces and consider what the new snow will fall on when it arrives.
