The snowpack is mostly stable and avalanches are unlikely. Temperatures are starting out 5 to 10 degrees cooler than yesterday morning. Cooler conditions are expected to have ended the wet snow avalanche hazard at the mid and upper elevations. Monitor conditions at the lower elevations for the unlikely development of wet snow avalanche hazards on very steep slopes during the warmest portion of the day.

Expect mostly sunny to partly cloudy skies on Saturday as a transitory ridge of high pressure moves over the region. Overnight lows in the mountains will be in the low teens before rising into the upper twenties in the afternoon. Ridgetop winds will be light and variable.The general avalanche hazard is expected to be Low on Saturday. Skiers and riders might be able to trigger an isolated pocket of shallow soft slab in very steep, wind loaded terrain above 9,000 feet. As the day warms, these slabs will become more susceptible to failure on sunlit aspects. Daytime warming will also bring about the possibility of small wet loose sluffs involving the new snow. These small slides could pose a threat to backcountry travelers in very steep, long couloirs and in terrain above cliff bands.
