Winds slabs were easily triggered by skiers yesterday and will remain sensitive to triggering today. These slabs grew in size overnight as snow fell and will continue to grow in size today with more snowfall and increasing southwest and west wind. Beware of wind loaded areas at the base of cliffs and at the exits of steep gullies where wind driven snow has accumulated. In prime areas like this, slabs could be up to three feet thick. There is also a chance that areas that receive the heaviest amount of wind loading could avalanche naturally later in the day so consider what's overhead if you enter big alpine terrain.
Dry loose avalanches on steep terrain over 35° will occur easily today and could carry you or trigger thicker slabs. Recent snow has fallen on a variety of different snow surfaces with the potetnial for all the new snow to move quickly and easily upon the old snow surface below. Perform quick hand shear tests and assess how the recent snow is bonding to old snow surfaces.

A small wind slab in northwest facing terrain off Cardiac Ridge at 9,600’. The slab failed on old snow down about 14”. Expect avalanche like this to be up to twice as thick today.
