Wow. We continue to wait for winter to really start. The overall avalanche danger rating on the Skyline remains LOW.
Snow and Weather
Current Conditions: These warm temperatures are truly remarkable. It's been another 24 hours with abnormally warm temperatures for this time of the season. Highs on Monday were again well into the 40s in the higher terrain and only dropped into the mid to upper 30s overnight. This period of warm weather is changing the snow that is currently on the ground. Average depths in the high country range from 8 to 12 inches. In many locations, all of that snow has become damp. The wind has really slowed overnight. It's light from the southwest.
Mountain Weather: We have another day of warm weather ahead. Expect temperatures in the high country to again reach into the mid 40s. Wind from the south should stay in the light to moderate speed categories. A low pressure trough off the coast of California is feeding some moisture into our region in the form of high clouds. This same system may bring us a little snow later in the week but it doesn't look all that exciting. Overall, temperatures look like they'll remain unseasonably warm over the next few weeks.
