A weak layer in the recent new snow caused a few slab avalanches last Saturday and Sunday. This layer has slowly been gaining strength as time passes. However, a low likelihood/high consequence avalanche is still possible in the right terrain. Steep cliffs and convex rollovers above unsupported terrain, particularly on northwest, north, and northeast aspects, may still produce an avalanche. Watch for cracking and whumpfing sounds as clues of a possible lingering storm slab.
