The sun can release wet avalanches in steep terrain. Avoid runout zones from sun-facing steep terrain from around noon.

Weak layers of faceted crystals buried under the slabs might be found locally. The weak layers can cause slightly bigger and more reactive windslabs to trigger. The sun can release wet avalanches in steep terrain. Avoid runout zones from sun-facing steep terrain from around noon.

I høgda kan det være mogleg å løyse ut skred i fokksnøen, og skavlar kan knekke. I terreng under skavlar kan flakskred lausne der skavlen ramlar ned.

Toppskavlane er generelt store, og mange av dei kan lett knekke ved tilleggsbelasting.

Lokalt i skjerma lommer i høgda kan det være nyare kantkorndanning høgt i snødekket som kan forsterke fokksnøproblemet. Årsaka er møte mellom tørr og fuktig snø, og klarvær. Fokksnøflak kan da bli meir påvirkelig og lettare og løyse ut.

Sola kan løyse ut mindre skred i svært bratt, solvendt terreng.

Snowpack Structure

Det ligg fokksnøflak av ulik hardheit i leområder etter hard vind og nedbør siste dagane. Ryggar og hard skare er blåst fram. I låglandet er snødekket fukta etter tidlegare mildvær, opp til omlag 400 moh. Det er forhold for kantkorndanning høgt i snødekket.

Tendency

A change in wind direction causes the avalanche problem to shift to SW–NE facing slopes. Avalanches in wind-drifted snow may be easy to trigger, especially at higher elevations. Cornices are well-developed and may trigger avalanches if they break.

Locally, in sheltered pockets, there may be newly formed faceted crystals high in the snowpack, which can amplify the wind-drifted snow problem. This is caused by the meeting of dry and moist snow combined with clear weather. Wind-drifted snow slabs can then become more sensitive and easier to trigger.
