As a consequence of falling temperatures, the natural avalanche activity has appreciably decreased. Weak layers in the old snowpack can be released especially by large additional loads especially on steep shady slopes. Here the dry avalanches can in isolated cases reach fairly large size. There is a danger of falling on the hard snow surface.
Monday: In some localities up to 10 cm of snow has fallen above approximately 1600 m. The old snowpack is largely stable and its surface has a resilient melt-freeze crust. Especially steep shady slopes high altitudes and the high Alpine regions: Weak layers exist in the old snowpack. In the vicinity of peaks snow depths vary greatly, depending on the infuence of the wind. In addition, only a small amount of snow is lying for the time of year.
