Forecast Snow Stability: During the early part of the night as mild temperatures and rain develop there will be a period of instability in recent windslab deposits. Steep wind sheltered locations on North-East to South-East aspects above 750 metres will be most affected. Any cornices above these locations will be prone to collapse. During daylight hours the snowpack will continue to thaw and consolidate, and stability will be generally good. The avalanche hazard will be Moderate.

Forecast Weather Influences: Mild with the freezing level rising well above the summits in the early part of the night. Rain at all levels will ease during the morning to give a drier afternoon. Winds will be strong South-Westerly. Observed Weather Influences: Heavy snow showers throughout the period with very strong West-North-Westerly winds. The freezing level rose from around 600 metres to 800 metres. ObservedSnowStability: Localised deposits of moderately bonded windslab are developing in some steep windsheltered locations. Deposits are often shallow and mainly affect North-East to South-East aspects above around 750 metres. Other aspects have only a very thin covering of soft snow. The avalanche hazard is Moderate.
