The wind slabs are easy to recognise and can only be released by large loads at their margins in most cases. Individual avalanche prone locations are to be found especially in extremely steep terrain at high altitude. At transitions from a shallow to a deep snowpack the likelihood of avalanches being released is greater. In steep terrain there is a danger of falling on the hard snow surface. In the afternoon as a consequence of warming during the day there will be an increase in the danger of moist and wet avalanches.

Above approximately 2200 m snow depths vary greatly, depending on the infuence of the wind. Sunshine and high temperatures gave rise to consolidation of the snowpack at low and intermediate altitudes. At low and intermediate altitudes only a little snow is lying.
