As a consequence of new snow and a strong wind from westerly directions, mostly small wind slabs will form on north and east facing slopes. Avalanche prone locations are to be found in gullies and bowls, and behind abrupt changes in the terrain above approximately 2000 m. At elevated altitudes the avalanche prone locations are a little more prevalent and exist in all aspects. The avalanche prone locations are and are barely recognisable because of the poor visibility. Apart from the danger of being buried, restraint should be exercised as well in view of the danger of avalanches sweeping people along and giving rise to falls. More gliding avalanches are possible, even large ones in isolated cases, in particular on steep east, south and west facing slopes below approximately 2600 m, in particular in the regions with a lot of snow. Areas with glide cracks are to be avoided.
Over a wide area 10 to 15 cm of snow, and even more in some localities, will fall until midday. The strong wind will transport the fresh and old snow. The fresh wind slabs are in some cases prone to triggering. The somewhat older wind slabs have settled a little. Towards its base, the snowpack is largely stable.
As a consequence of the occasionally storm force wind, fresh snow drift accumulations will form.
