As new snow accumulates, fresh soft slabs will build and could start to become a concern in the afternoon. New snow will also add weight to persistent deep slab instabilities, and dangerous avalanche conditions will continue. At the mid and upper elevations, backcountry travelers venturing into avalanche terrain could trigger hard slabs up to six feet deep in areas that have not seen recent activity. Given the depth of these slabs, a slope could be crossed numerous times before a skier or rider finds an avenue to impact one of the weak layers of concern. Do not let previous skier or rider traffic lure you into compromising terrain; if initiated, these slides are likely to carry dire consequences. At the lower elevations, skiers and riders could trigger pockets of slab up to 2 feet deep in steep, avalanche prone terrain.

Drier conditions will prevail on Tuesday with a chance for a few light, scattered flurries. Overnight lows in the mountains will be near 10 before rising into the upper teens during the day. Westerly ridgetop winds will decrease to 20 to 30 miles per hour.On Tuesday, the general avalanche hazard is expected to be CONSIDERABLE in the Tetons and Greys River area. Extra caution is advised as these slides are likely to carry dire consequences if initiated.In the Togwotee Pass area, where slabs depths are one to three feet, the general avalanche hazard is expected to be MODERATE. Similar conditions exist, but with a decreased likelihood of triggering and less severe consequences.
