Avalanche Summary

You could trigger an avalanche if you find a weaker, thinner area of the snowpack. Where the wind has drifted snow below ridgelines and cornices could be more likely areas to trigger a larger avalanche. You can reduce your chances of starting a slide further by riding on homogeneous slopes with over five feet of snow that do not have trigger points. You can find safer riding on slopes less than about 35 degrees or on slopes sheltered from the wind at lower elevations.
