Avalanche Summary

A potent spring storm brought over a foot of snow and strong winds to much of the San Juan Mountains. You could trigger avalanches where winds form slabs on steep, leeward slopes at upper elevations. The most dangerous slopes are steep and face north, northeast, and east, where slabs sit above firm, old snow surfaces.

You can find safer travel in wind-sheltered areas or on lower-angled slopes.
