Most terrain in this area is safe from avalanches due to the lack of snow. But an upslope storm is quickly changing that picture and increasing the avalanche danger. The hazard will rise during the day as snow accumulates, and once more than a foot of snow has fallen on slick, old-snow surfaces, it'll become possible to trigger avalanches on slopes steeper than about 35 degrees.
Be on the lookout for cracking in the new snow as a sign that it is becoming stiff enough to slide.
