Avalanche Summary

You can trigger an avalanche on northerly and easterly-facing slopes where wind-drifted snow is resting on top of multiple weak layers. Though avalanches may break shallower in the snowpack, some may break on weak layers near the ground, creating a very large and dangerous slide. You can trigger avalanches from adjacent slopes or from below so plan your routes and safe spots accordingly. Cracking and collapsing may not be present before an avalanche breaks. Traveling on lower-angle or wind-sheltered terrain is safer.
