Avalanche Summary

Generally safe avalanche conditions exist. The few areas where you might be able to trigger a small but dangerous avalanche are on very steep, generally steeper than about 40 degrees, slopes once the snow gets wet, and on dry, wind-drifted slopes well above treeline. To reduce your chances of being caught in an avalanche, start and end your day early and identify and avoid hollow, stiff, wind-drifted snow in very steep, consequential terrain, and give cornices a wide berth.
