The General Avalanche Hazard is MODERATE at Upper elevations where isolated pockets of slab to 12 inches in depth could be triggered in steep, wind loaded terrain. At Mid and Low elevations the hazard is LOW in the morning but will rise to MODERATE on sunny slopes where the chance of wet-loose slides, both natural and triggered, will increase due to solar warming.

A ridge of high pressure is to settle in Thursday, with light and variable winds and temperatures on mountain tops possibly reaching into the low thirties. AVALANCHE HAZARD FORECAST FOR THE TETON, TOGWOTEE PASS, AND SOUTHWEST TRAILS AREAS:The general avalanche hazard is expected to be LOW Thursday morning with a mostly stable snow pack in which isolated pockets of surface slabs to greater than a foot could be triggered in high, steep terrain. This could be the warm-up we expect in Western Wyoming this time of year resulting in increasing avalanche hazard throughout the day on Thursday. The hazard could increase to MODERATE or even CONSIDERABLE in the afternoon as the surface snow above 8000' weakens, providing for wet slab and wet loose avalanches and the entire snowpack below 8000' weakens also providing the potential for wet slide activity, particularly at the lowest elevations.Backcountry users are advised to consult area specific forecasts issued every morning as new information may become available and unexpected weather can change conditions.
